Hezekiah G. P. Shani, MBChB, FACS, FCCP, attended Makerere University Medical School in Kampala, Uganda, and received his medical degree in 1970. Upon relocating to the United States, he served his post graduate training, including his general surgery residency and cardiothoracic surgery fellowship, at internship at George Washington University Hospital. Furthermore, he conducted his residency at Wake Forest University, the Jewish Hospital of Cincinnati, and the Hospital of Central Connecticut- New Britain General Campus. In addition, Dr. Shani received board certification in cardiothoracic surgery from the American Board of Cardiothoracic Surgery. He remains at the forefront of his challenging specialty via memberships and affiliations with prestigious professional societies and associations. As a result, he is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgeons. Moreover, he attained fellowship of the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP) and fellowship of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
